We realize that not everyone who checks out this website or who visits on a Sunday has all this “Jesus stuff” figured out. Maybe you are agnostic (not sure if anyone can know the truth about God), or maybe you are pluralistic (it doesn’t matter what you believe since all religions are basically the same). Or maybe you think something else entirely. We’re glad you’re here.
We believe that you can actually know the truth about God. If God is powerful enough to create the universe, then it would make sense that He could reveal Himself to the people He created. And we believe that while other world religions do have some truth in them, truth is actually more than a collection of facts or right information. Ultimate truth is found in a Person: Jesus Christ.
“I am the way and the truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — Jesus (John 14:6)
This is a staggering claim! Jesus claimed not merely to know the truth, but to be the Truth! And He claimed that He indeed was God who came to the earth to show us what it would look like if, “God was one of us.” Either Jesus was way out of line to claim to be God, or else He in fact was God. This claim is so staggering in its implications that each person should make it their #1 priority to discover whether Jesus was a liar, or if He truly is the Lord of all.
But just because we have come to believe that Jesus is who He says He is, we don’t expect you to take our word for it. We know that discovering spiritual truth is a process and we are confident that if a person is seeking to know the truth with all their heart, they’ll find it (see Jeremiah 29:11-13). Our job isn’t to convince people, but rather to demonstrate the love of God and point people to Jesus as He is revealed in the Bible.
Whether you are looking into the Christian faith for the first time, or are a Christian and you’re wanting to grow deeper, there are several avenues to explore Jesus through ENC:
You can check out more on our website: The Gospel: Key to Change, and What it Means to Know God. A very helpful book for those seeking to find out whether Christianity is true is The Reason for God by Timothy Keller.
Community Groups. One of the main ways that many of us first started to learn more about Jesus and what it means to be a Christian is through small groups, and getting to know other Christians. At ENC we call our small groups, Community Groups. These groups are a great place for Christians to grow deeper in their relationship with God and others, and they’re also a safe place for those who are not Christians to learn more, ask questions, and also meet new people who are on a similar spiritual journey.
The Gospel Class (101). The Gospel Class is the ‘starting point’ for people new to ENC or for exploring the faith, and is a great place to get questions answered and to help you grow no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. It is offered about 2-3 times per year.
Sunday Church. Sundays are also a great way to learn more about the gospel and what it means to follow Jesus.
Wherever you are spiritually, our hope is that you will keep seeking and pursuing the One who created you. You are not here by accident. God created you for His pleasure and His purposes. Until you discover that your life is not about you, it won’t ever really make sense. But a life of greater joy, purpose and meaning awaits you as you come to know the One who has known you from eternity past.
