ANDY STROMBERG
Campus Director

What's up everybody, my name is Andy Stromberg and I am the Campus Director for Every Nation Campus Ministries Seattle. Basically that means I oversee what goes down ministry-wise at SU, SPU, and UW.

BASIC STUFF

I've never been all that good at coming up with those deep kinds of statements that describe who you are or what you stand for. Basically, I value the pursuit of truth and love to engage anyone who's headed the same direction. I also like to keep things light and try to make jokes often, so if that's how you roll we'll probably get along just fine.

I grew up in Port Orchard, Washington, where I thoroughly enjoyed living in a small town and taking classes like "Diving and Water Games." My freshman year in college I began following Jesus with my whole heart. I still took some ridiculous classes, but becoming a Christian has by far been the most transforming, challenging, exciting, (insert extreme adjective) experience of my life.

I like working with college students because it's a time when people are generally open to new ideas and are making some of the biggest decisions of their lives. I hope that the students I work with will come out of college full of compassion, integrity, and purpose.

I'm passionate about seeing individual and community transformation. I think there are a lot of different ways that can happen, so I love seeing diverse expressions of vision, love and justice. Following Jesus is not an easy road, and I commend anyone who is on the journey.

EDUCATION: Seattle University -- BA in Liberal Studies from Seattle University, Certificate of Christian Studies from Fuller Seminary.

INTERESTS AND FAVORITES
  • Places: Manchester State Park in Port Orchard, Washington. Sandy's out in Hawaii. Pretty much any place that's peaceful/beautiful, has something fun to do, has some cool people, or some good food.
  • What's on your iPod: Switchfoot, Copeland, The Fray, Tyrone Wells, Matt Kearney, Nicklecreek, Jack Johnson, John Mayer. Those are my favorites right now, but I like a little bit of everything (Ray Charles, Eminem, Lauren Hill, the Beatles, Joe Cocker, the list goes on and on and on and on...)
  • Books: The Neverending Story (my favorite as a kid), The Great Divorce, Confessions of a Reformission Reverend, Velvet Elvis
  • What do you TiVo: Spongebob Squarepants, the Office, Heroes (The first season, anyway. I'm not really convinced they can keep it good)
  • Sports Team: Seattle Seahawks
  • Movies: Crash, The original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, It's a Wonderful Life
  • Hobbies: Playing guitar and song writing, soccer
  • Dislikes: Pickles. They taste like they were soaked in poison and armpit sweat. They are a disgrace to vegetables everywhere.
  • Odd Facts: I was almost named Thor.
  • Book of the Bible: Philippians... short, sweet, and upbeat, just like me.
LIFE SCRIPTURE: Haven't been alive long enough yet. Hopefully not one of those that talks about pain and endurance, but we'll see.
